I believe the NPC Repair Hammers, damage the DUR of the item, but they are good to use if you going to sell an item to NPC, you get more zulies than for the higher value items.

If you get the NPC to repair your item, than it costs more but does no damage, am gussing the IM Repair Hammer repairs your item without doing damage to the DUR of the item.
